Party Hints & Tips

Remember WHO the party is for
If you have three children age 2, 5 and 10 and the party is for the 5 year-old, it is all too easy to have a few friends for all the children.

Remember, the content of the show and the way it is presented will be targeted towards the birthday child's age as it is their special day.

A mix of age ranges may lead to unnecessary disruption.

Stick to the birthday child's friends, make the older child special by giving him jobs to do, as for younger children have someone watch the show with them and all will be fine.

Presents
Have a box or table by the front door for arriving children to leave their presents. This will keep all the presents safe, allow you to open them at home and to keep track of who gave which presents. For party latecomers this will also avoid disrupting the show in mid-flow.

Parents & Adults
Most parents will leave their children at the party. For those that stay they are welcome to sit with the children and join in along with the show (most do).

On occasions, adults will want to stay for a coffee and a chat. This can be incredibly distracting for the children and the entertainer. For this reason it is a great idea to arrange some chairs at the back of the venue for these adults to sit. Rest assured if they get out of the control a bit of adult audience participation always does the trick!

It is essential that at least ONE adult must be present at all times whilst the entertainer is performing.

Bouncy Castles and Balloons
In situations where a bouncy castle has been hired for the children, the bouncy castle must be deflated during the magic show. Controlling a large group of young children is a fine art and having a bouncy castle lingering in the background is very challenging.

If a bouncy castle is desired, time can be allocated in the show schedule to allow sufficient playtime.

Please do not under any circumstances blow up balloons and leave them laying on the floor for when the children arrive. Any decorative balloons should be tied up in bunches, hung out of reach and then given away at the end of the show.

Food & Drink
A good idea are small food boxes, these can be used with either hot or cold food and keeps all the mess in one place. If all the food is placed in front of the children they will eat you out of biscuits and leave all the savoury food for you to eat over the next week.

Don't serve food or drink while the entertainer is performing as this is very distracting for the children and will leave you with a messy carpet!
